Total, elastic and diffractive cross sections at LHC in the Miettinen–Pumplin model
Predictions for the total, elastic and single diffractive cross sections calculated for the LHC in the framework of the Miettinen-Pumplin model are presented. The total cross section is expected to be 15% smaller than that determined by Donnachie and Landshoff in the model with soft pomeron. The diffractive cross section is almost constant in the Tevatron–LHC energy range.

Results from the Fermilab Tevatron p̄p collider on diffractive and total cross sections are reviewed with emphasis on physics significance and properties pointing to expectations at the LHC.
متن کاملTotal, elastic, and inelastic cross sections for positron and electron collisions with tetrahydrofuran.
We present total, elastic, and inelastic cross sections for positron and electron scattering from tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the energy range between 1 and 5000 eV. Total cross sections (TCS), positronium formation cross sections, the summed inelastic integral cross sections (ICS) for electronic excitations and direct ionization, as well as elastic differential cross sections (DCS) at selected in...
متن کاملMeasurement of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at ffiffi s p 1⁄4 7 TeV
Measurements of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at ffiffi s p 1⁄4 7 TeV are presented in kinematic regions defined by the masses MX and MY of the two final-state hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. Differential cross sections are measured as a function of ξX 1⁄4 MX=s in the region −5.5 < log10ξX < −2.5, for log10MY < 0.5, dominated by si...
متن کاملA Parametrisation of the Inclusive Diffractive Cross Section at HERA
A recently proposed parametrization for the deep inelastic diffractive cross section is used to describe the H1 94 data. We find two possible solutions, and we discuss them is some detail. 1. Diffractive events at HERA [1, 2] are generally attributed to the exchange of the Pomeron between the virtual photon and the proton. After the first observation of these events, attempts of a theoretical d...
